Letterpress & Illustration
While working in Minneapolis, I wanted to take a step back from the computer to return to drawing and making things with my hands. I began taking bookbinding and letterpress classes at Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA). For the next couple years, I learned how to set metal and wood type by hand, make photopolymer plates, lock up on the press bed and the inner workings of various Vandercooks. I received certification for solo press operation after successfully passing MCBA's letterpress exam. I continued to take classes, use open studio time to work on personal projects that informed my graphic design work and collaborate with other letterpress printers until I moved to New York City, where I continue this passion at MCBA's sister facility, The Center for Book Arts.
